Nigel Farage facial caricature

In this week we were given a project to create a caricature of Nigel Farage in what we see him as. For this we made a clay model of him and I focused on turning him into a crocodile. Afterwards we were given the objective of drawing the caricature in different mediums. For this I used pencil, ink and felt tip pens. I really enjoyed doing this project considering I really enjoy making caricatures and it was fun making an insulting image of Farage.

Mapping through Cheltenham

Near the end of the first term, we were given a project to walk throughout Cheltenham, and map out a route that starts from Imperial Gardens to Francis Close Hall campus. Throughout this journey we had to draw items that interested us that related to the theme of Christmas because after we finished creating the map we had to make a one page A3 narrative illustration of the route using the theme. For my story I decided to have a Christmas elf walk throughout Cheltenham looking for a missing Christmas tree light since I noticed there was one missing on the tree in the gardens. The techniques I used were simple pencil design for the sketches of through the town but for my final piece I used felt tip pens. I enjoyed this work because we were given free reign of the route we could take as long as it went from A to B and of the story we wanted to make as long as it remained about Christmas, however if I would change something, it would be the time of when we did the mapping because it was too cold to draw on the actual day.

Pittville Pump Room

One week my year walked up to the Pittville pump room with the tutors and were asked to create some observational drawings of different angles of the building so we would get a good idea how it fully looked. Unfortunately at the time I had injured the thumb on my drawing hand and had to use my other hand instead for the drawings. Afterwards we had to use the information we recorded about the pump room and make an illustration of the pump room but we had to change aspects of it and as this intrigued me I decided to wait till my thumb got better in the next couple of days so then I could focus on it.. For me I decided to go for a theme from a movie I watched when I was younger Monster house. For this I gave the house eyes, changed the pillars to teeth and gave the statues weapons. Unfortunately my original recording were tampered with before I could add them onto the blog. I really enjoyed creating this illustration because it made me have to think of many way I alter an image to make it into something else. What I would change though is that I would've redone the observational drawings again on a different day with my better hand.
